A lot of writers have an alcoholic private eye; Bruen's the one brave enough to show what that really means in all its vomitous, blood puking nastiness. As for Crumley: I actually prefer THE WRONG CASE to the more famous THE LAST GOOD KISS. The plotting's a lot tighter, for one thing.
